Senior Payroll Officer

Salary:

Attractive $134,400 salary package

The Role:

This Senior Payroll Officer role will take ownership of accurate and timely payroll processing, payroll compliance, reporting and employee payroll support across a medium to large corporate environment.

  • You will work closely with finance, HR, managers and external authorities to ensure payroll is delivered accurately, deadlines are met and reporting is completed to a high standard.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Process fortnightly and monthly payroll, including overtime, bonuses and commissions.
  • Manage payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, STP and workers compensation reporting.
  • Process terminations, redundancies, salary sacrifice and employee payroll changes.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations, month-end reports and management reporting.
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees, managers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee data and system accuracy.
  • Support HR reporting, headcount reporting, leave reporting and ad hoc analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, documentation and controls.
Candidate Requirements:

You will be an experienced payroll professional with strong Australian payroll knowledge, high attention to detail and the ability to work confidently in a deadline-driven environment.

  • You will bring:
  • Significant payroll experience within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax, superannuation, STP, PAYG and payroll compliance.
  • Experience with terminations, redundancies, leave, workers compensation and reporting.
  • Sound understanding of awards, workplace legislation, EBA/IR requirements and payroll governance.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll / HRIS systems.
  • High accuracy, strong time management and the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive payroll and HR information with discretion.
  • Payroll qualifications or formal payroll training would be well regarded.
