Assistant Finance Manager

Our client is the Australian and New Zealand arm of a respected global group with a portfolio of specialist products. The local business is lean, profitable and well run, and the finance function sits close to the Managing Director and the wider team.

This is a Senior Financial Accountant role with a clear path to Finance Manager. You will work alongside an experienced Finance Manager and quickly take ownership of the core finance cycle across Australia and New Zealand.

• Own the month end close and the monthly reporting pack for Australia and New Zealand
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and journals to a high standard
• Manage BAS, GST and other statutory compliance, working with external advisers on year end and audit
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting to the global group
• Oversee payables, receivables and cash flow, and keep controls tight
• Drive process improvements that make reporting faster and more reliable
• Provide commercial insight to the Managing Director on margins, pricing and performance

You will be a hands-on, well-rounded accountant who enjoys variety and ownership in a smaller business, and who wants a genuine path to the Finance Manager role. Experience in a commercial, trading or sales-focused business will be well regarded.

• CA or CPA qualified, or close to completion
• Solid experience running month end and preparing management reports
• Strong working knowledge of GST, BAS and statutory compliance
• Confident communicator who can build trust with a Managing Director and a global finance team
• Advanced Excel skills and a practical, improvement-minded approach

• Circa $100,000 base + super
