Chief Technology Officer

An Osaka-based investment holding group building technology, AI and product capability across its portfolio. The organisation is professionalising its technology platform and wants a senior technology leader who can partner with the CEO and Board.

Own group technology strategy, product architecture, AI and data capability, engineering leadership, security, infrastructure and technology economics.

• Set the technology roadmap, target architecture and evolution plan
• Lead zero-to-one product and platform delivery from ambiguous business goals through MVP, production and scale
• Own LLM, RAG, agent, evaluation, safety and AI cost strategy
• Establish data architecture, privacy, security, IP and third-party technology governance
• Decide build, buy, integrate or partner with clear commercial rationale
• Design and lead Product, Backend, Frontend, AI, Data, DevOps and Security teams
• Advise the CEO and Board on feasibility, risk, budget and scale readiness
• The Candidate
• Around ten or more years across software, internet, AI or computer science, with at least five years of technical leadership
• Proven large-system or platform delivery and at least one genuine zero-to-one or one-to-ten build
• Fluency in a modern language such as Python, Go, Java, C++, Rust or TypeScript, with the ability to review production code
• Deep working knowledge of LLMs, embeddings, RAG, agents, fine-tuning, evaluation and AI cost management
• Able to recruit and lead an engineering organisation and give independent Board-level advice
• Advantageous: prior CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering or Chief Architect experience; SaaS or AI product companies; professional English for international teams

• Competitive package for Osaka (client stated band JPY 13m to 18m; market may need to flex for genuine CTO calibre)
