Head of Finance

Our client is an established, growing group based in Osaka, Japan. As the business and its group structure continue to develop, it is strengthening its day-to-day finance operations, reporting and control environment.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead accurate and timely finance operations while senior finance leadership focuses on group strategy and financing. You will own the close, reporting, tax coordination, treasury and controls, and lead the finance team.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting, including review of journals, receivables, payables, fixed assets and accruals
• Run the monthly close timetable, balance sheet reconciliations and the annual close and audit preparation
• Produce financial statements, management reporting, budget versus actual analysis and cash reporting
• Coordinate Japanese corporate, consumption and withholding tax with external advisers and maintain the tax calendar
• Manage bank accounts, payments, cash forecasting and the controls that safeguard funds
• Operate and strengthen approvals, reconciliations and segregation of duties
• Act as a key contact for external audit, from supporting documents through to adjustments
• Support subsidiary reporting, budgets and intercompany processes
• Allocate work, review outputs and develop the finance team

You will be a hands-on finance leader who takes ownership of accuracy and deadlines, investigates issues thoroughly and communicates clearly with senior management.

• Extensive accounting and finance experience, including three or more years leading or reviewing the work of a finance team
• Hands-on accounting experience in a Japanese business environment, with working knowledge of J-GAAP and Japanese corporate, consumption and withholding tax
• Demonstrated ownership of the monthly close, plus annual close and external audit experience
• Experience managing bank accounts, payments and cash forecasts
• Advanced Excel and strong financial analysis skills
• High standards of integrity, confidentiality and risk awareness
• Listed company or group finance experience, consolidation exposure, a recognised accounting qualification and English-language finance experience are well regarded

• AUD $110,000 total package
